Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso Grand Sport (Ref. 295.8.59)

The Jaeger Le-Coultre Reverso originates from the need for polo players to protect the easily scratched glass of Edwardian-era watches, with the patent for the innovative swivelling watch case filed in 1931.

Today, the dial is protected by highly durable sapphire crystal, but the swivelling case remains. Not only is it an elegant and iconic Art Deco shape with a firm place in horological history, but it also allows the owner to engrave the other side of the case and appreciate the engraving without taking off the watch.

This Reverso Grand Sport Stainless Steel (Ref. 295.8.59) is a sportier take on the Reverso design, blending elegance with a more robust and dynamic aesthetic.

The case is a larger but not over-sized 43x27mm, with a thickness of 10mm. The dial is white, with a central panel with a decorative square pattern with indices outlined in black. Both the indices and the sword shaped hands have a luminescent coating, allowing for readability in the dark. Unusually for a Reverso, the seconds are kept track of by a centrally mounted hand tipped by a red arrow - furthering the adventurous aesthetic of the Grand Sport.

The watch is powered by a Calibre 822 automatic movement with 45 hours of power-reserve. Jaeger LeCoultre movements are held in high regard within the watch enthusiast community, with the Calibre 822 no exception. The watch also features a steel bracelet with a double folding security clasp.
